Versions and Critiques of the Category of Progress

The module examines the historical development of the notion of “progress” into one of the most important analytical and interpretative categories to have emerged in the modern era. During this historical exploration, the different versions of progress will be mapped out and analyzed. Finally, having presented some important critiques that the notion of progress has received, the module will close by reflecting on the concept’s contemporary status and significance.
