History of Historiography, 20th century

An introduction to some of the key issues in the history and theory of historiography.  The course examines the transformation of historical writings over the past two and half centuries, from the Rankean paradigm to the «postmodern challenge», the rise of the social science-oriented forms of historical research, the movement from a macro-historical to a micro-historical orientation and the inclusion of previously excluded groups (women, ethnic minorities, etc.) in historical studies.
